Ancient Tarot Sola Busca:

The Sola-Busca Tarot is something absolutely original in the history of the Tarot: it is the only fifteenth-century deck that has arrived complete to this day; it is the only ancient deck in which all 56 "minor" cards are illustrated with characters, rather than with suit symbols. We have to wait until the end of 1909, with the Rider-Waite Tarot painted by Pamela Colman Smith, to find a new work full of characters, as well as the usual symbols, in all 78 illustrations.

The most fascinating aspect of the Sola Busca Tarot is the content. The Triumphs portray kings and heroes of Greco-Roman antiquity and biblical history. The Numeral Cards and Court Figures mix fantastic scenes with episodes of daily life and alchemical allegories. The symbols are also modified: Dishes for Coins. Maces for Sticks and Amphorae for Cups, while Swords remain Swords.

Tarocchi Sola Busca:

I Tarocchi Sola Busca sono qualcosa di assolutamente originale, nella storia dei Tarocchi: è l’unico mazzo quattrocentesco arrivato completo ai nostri giorni; è l’unico mazzo antico in cui tutte le 56 carte "minori” sono illustrate con personaggi, anziché con i simboli dei semi. Bisogna attendere la fine del 1909, con il Rider-Waite Tarot dipinto da Pamela Colman Smith, per trovare una nuova opera ricca di personaggi, oltre che dei consueti simboli, in tutte le 78 illustrazioni.

L’aspetto più affascinante dei Tarocchi Sola Busca è il contenuto. I Trionfi ritraggono re ed eroi dell’antichità greco-romana e della storia biblica. Le Carte numerali e le Figure di Corte mescolano scene fantastiche con episodi di vita quotidiana e allegorie alchimistiche. Anche i simboli sono modificati: Piatti per i Denari. Mazze per i Bastoni e Anfore per le Coppe, mentre le Spade restano Spade.
