Tarocchi di Marsiglia: La Luna

Tarot of Marseille: The Moon

WHO IS THE MOON, ARCANUM 18 OF THE TAROT OF MARSEILLE?
The Moon, card number 18 of the Tarot de Marseille, represents a blue star that dominates the world with its light symbolized by rays of red, white and blue.

Drops of red, yellow, and blue appear to rise from the earth and head toward the moon.

Paper is attributed an occult dimension.
We see dogs that seem to be howling with their heads turned towards the star: this gives the “blade” a sense of chaos that harks back to the primordial anxieties of human beings.

At the bottom appears a crustacean, probably a shrimp: it seems to be drowning in deep water and is trying to get out.

This refers to our inner strength and symbolically evokes the unconscious part of the human being.

INTERPRETATION OF THE CHARTER
In operation
The Moon expresses imagination and dreams. It appeals to the subconscious as a guide to an individual's path. In this sense, it is a card that reveals the intuitive and unconscious power each of us carries within us.
It encourages you to let yourself be guided by your primal impulses and your inner strength.
It also refers to the figure of the mother.

Not in operation
The Moon is hostile when it indicates trauma or hysterical behavior.
It can reveal a phobia or physical suffering and refers to the distress some people may feel when giving credence to negative, unfounded, or confusing beliefs.

The Moon invites the individual to embark on a journey within himself that could lead to shocking revelations.
