WHO IS JUSTICE, ARCANUM 8 OF THE TAROT OF MARSEILLE?
Justice, the eighth of the Major Arcana in the Tarot de Marseille, represents a woman with a stern gaze.
Sitting on a golden throne, the woman reveals her intransigence and impartiality: she wears a red tunic covered by a blue cape.
In his right hand he holds a sword, a symbol of the fact that he holds the instruments of warning.
He therefore acts as a judge and seems able to evaluate a conflict with extreme severity.
In his left hand he holds a perfectly balanced scale: this highlights the impartiality and neutrality of justice, the two essential attributes that ensure stability in the organization of something.
INTERPRETATION OF THE CHARTER
In operation
Justice is the perfect symbol of fairness and stability. Endowed with a great sense of organization, she seduces with her practicality, precision, and neutrality.
Using objective criteria, Justice ensures peaceful coexistence within a society.
Together with the Popess and the Pope, Justice is a sign of contractual agreement.
Not in operation
Justice is flawed by rigidity. It struggles to keep pace with the times and is difficult to interpret.
Justice is quibbling and complicated.
Associated with Death, it is ominous and a sign of rupture.
