Tarocchi di Marsiglia: Il Matto

Tarot of Marseille: The Fool

WHO IS THE FOOL, THE NUMBERLESS ARCANE OF THE TAROT OF MARSEILLE?
A man advances toward the horizon, a cane in his hand. He carries a yellow bag over his shoulder. He is dressed like a pilgrim about to embark on an uncertain journey.

Behind him there seems to be an animal following him: whether it is a dog or a cat, the character gives it no importance and continues on his path despite the obstacles that arise in his path.
He seems to be walking on an uncertain path.
The only one of the Major Arcana of the Tarot de Marseille not to be linked to a number, the Fool is placed at the beginning of a cycle.
The card represents a still immature character who is about to begin the journey towards knowledge and wisdom.

INTERPRETATION OF THE CHARTER
In operation
The Fool represents a beginning, the opening of a path.
She is innocent, sometimes unpredictable and, despite the obstacles, she lets herself be guided by a force that we could define as spiritual.

He tends to evolve towards something new and his current condition pushes him to continue in this direction.

Not in operation
The Fool tends to act impulsively and lacks the detachment needed to make a sound decision: he often makes arbitrary choices, with the risk of regretting them later.

The character's reasoning isn't always coherent and he tends to favor intuition over reason.
