WHO IS THE MAGICIAN, ARCANUM 1 OF THE TAROT OF MARSEILLE?
The Magician, or “Magician,” is the first card of the Tarot de Marseille deck: it is a potential card to always be placed next to the one that precedes or follows it.

It is marked by an element of fire, it speaks of resourcefulness, genius, creative force, quick action and intuition.
It is a card, like the Magician, that announces something that will happen immediately.

INTERPRETATION OF THE CHARTER
In operation
The Magician is alive. His ability to master matter gives him rare intelligence.
He is able to convince his circle with skill and power of persuasion.
It also represents the joy of living and is positioned at the beginning of the cycle: it is a young and dynamic character who makes his way in life thanks to his skills and savoir faire.

Not in operation
The Magician can also appear to be an impostor. His ability to master matter makes him the perfect charlatan.
He's smart and can hide his incompetence when he wants to make a good impression.
He is an opportunist and has no problem betraying those close to him if he can benefit from it.
