The Jane Austen Tarot is a complete 78-card tarot deck that weaves the literary world of Jane Austen into traditional tarot symbolism. Written by tarot scholar Diane Wilkes and illustrated by Italian artist Lola Airaghi, it turns the tarot's archetypes into a mirror of the social and psychological life of Regency England. This collector's edition, published by Silver Cat Editions, is limited to 1000 copies, each in a handmade wooden box with a booklet and a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by the publisher (copy no. X of 1000).
What's included
78 tarot cards + booklet
Handmade wooden box, branded and hand-painted with an aged, vintage effect
Numbered certificate of authenticity, signed by the publisher
A lucky charm in every box
About the deck
Every card is a visual and narrative tribute to Austen's novels: characters such as Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy and Emma Woodhouse embody the cards. Darcy and Elizabeth, for example, lend their psychology to the King and Queen of Swords
Major Arcana: the stages of inner growth, seen through the stories of the novels
Minor Arcana: the four classic suits, read through the daily life and social relationships of the Regency
Illustrations by Lola Airaghi, an Italian illustrator and comics artist known for her work for Sergio Bonelli Editore, with period-accurate costumes, interiors and faces, set among country landscapes, balls and elegant interiors
A fit for lovers of classic literature and costume history, and for readers who prefer gentle, relationship-focused readings
About the box and the edition
Each box is branded and hand-painted with an aging technique that gives it a vintage look. Because the painting is done by hand, every box has its own character. Each deck comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity, and a lucky charm is placed in every box.
