Tarot of Marseille: The World

WHO IS THE WORLD, ARCANUM 21 OF THE TAROT OF MARSEILLE?
The last Arcanum of the Tarot de Marseille cycle, the World depicts a naked woman balanced on her right foot: she seems perfectly at ease in her surroundings.

All around is a multicoloured laurel wreath which gives the woman a universal dimension: she holds in her hands the same objects that we also find before the Magician at the beginning of the cycle and seems to master them perfectly.

At the four corners of the card, we find an angel, a cow, an eagle and a lion, symbols of the four evangelists Saint Matthew, Saint Luke, Saint John and Saint Mark.

In this way, the card takes on a sacred value and the woman becomes the guardian of the link between the divine and the universe.

The character has reached the end of his cycle and seems to have acquired the knowledge necessary to understand his environment and his role in the world.

In operation
The World announces a point of arrival and describes a mature character who has the experience necessary to understand the elements that surround him.

Paper is a source of fullness, abundance and success.
It announces positive and concrete results compared to the efforts made.

Not in operation
As for its negative attributes, the World can be hostile and dark.
The obstacles the individual faces may seem insurmountable and the World may indicate a feeling of giving up.

The world can question the benevolence of the social environment and the individual can feel so little considered and excluded that he feels the need to isolate himself.
