Is there a connection between Tarot and Zodiac Signs?
Share
The Tarot and the zodiac symbols have a common origin: in fact, they both came to us from ancient, mysterious knowledge, shrouded in a blanket of mist made up of charm and great spirituality.
These are disciplines that may seem independent, but which in reality, upon closer examination, immediately reveal that they draw from a common well.
As you know, both the star oracle and the Tarot are intended to guide man towards a path, a journey, that will lead him to develop his best abilities.
Obviously, both horoscopes and Tarot are used primarily to understand what the future holds, but it is quite clear that both disciplines are also very useful for undertaking an inner journey aimed at increasing one's awareness.
We can say that many of the esoteric and mysterious knowledge seem to be somehow connected to each other, they seem to lead, so to speak, on the same path.
This reinforces the belief that each of them constitutes a gateway to an invisible world, made up of subtle forces, which decisively influence our destiny.
What is the connection between the stars and the cards?
The connections between astrology and cartomancy are so numerous, starting from the very foundations of the two disciplines, that once analyzed, it is difficult to consider them two separate disciplines.
As is well known, the astral sky contains 12 zodiac signs or constellations. In addition to these, there are also 8 planets and 2 luminaries, namely the Sun and the Moon.
If you add the twelve signs to the eight planets and the two luminaries, the sum will be 22. How many Major Arcana are there in the Tarot deck? 22!
This simple consideration alone should be enough to highlight how the two disciplines somehow draw on a common knowledge, a single well.
As evidence of this close connection between astrology and cartomancy, it is easy to note how each Arcanum present in the deck corresponds to each star present in the sky chart or in one's birth chart.
Through a much more complex calculation it is also possible to find a clear relationship between the cards that make up the Minor Arcana and the signs of the zodiac.
Below we would like to report in full the direct correspondences existing between the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana and the zodiac signs.
Aries
The first zodiac sign that kicks off the entire cycle corresponds to the Major Arcana of the Emperor and the Minor Arcana of the King of Wands. Authority, self-control, and other characteristics present on the two cards of the Tarot deck fully correspond to the typical Aries character.
Bull
Taurus is associated with the Major Arcana of the Pope and the Minor Arcana of the King of Pentacles. Important qualities such as wisdom, loyalty, and concreteness are found in both the two cards of the Tarot deck and in the second sign of the zodiac.
Twins
The third sign of the zodiac cycle corresponds to the Major Arcana of the Lovers and the Minor Arcana of the King of Swords. Passion, moodiness, and fickleness, even to the point of turning a blind eye, are characteristic traits of the zodiac sign that are also found in the two Arcana.
Cancer
The Chariot in the Major Arcana and the King of Cups in the Minor Arcana are cards that share many meanings and characteristics with the sign of Cancer: spiritual growth, continuous evolution, a tendency toward spirituality. But also a particularly keen tendency toward introspection.
Lion
The Major Arcana of Strength evokes meanings tied to a clear inner energy, while the Minor Arcana of the Queen of Wands speaks of concreteness and playfulness. These elements are clearly found in the typical Leo character.
Virgin
Among the Major Arcana associated with this sign is The Hermit, while among the Minor Arcana, the Queen of Pentacles is associated with Virgo. It's worth noting that both cards are closely related to Mercury, the planet that proves extremely important for Virgo and inspires inner exploration and proactivity.
Balance
Unsurprisingly, the Major Arcana associated with Libra is Justice, and among the Minor Arcana, the Queen of Swords is associated with the sign. The common meanings of the cards and the sign of Libra refer to balance based on solid foundations, on inner strength, but also physical and social strength.
Scorpio
Death, among the Major Arcana, and the Queen of Cups among the Minor Arcana, are the Tarot cards directly linked to the zodiac sign of Scorpio. These meanings are therefore closely tied to the sensory sphere, a certain hedonism, and extremely earthly passions.
Sagittarius
The zodiac sign of Sagittarius is connected to the Major Arcana of Temperance and the Minor Arcana of the Page of Wands. These cards signal a tendency toward inner peace and balance. The typical Sagittarius character moves toward these goals, especially in the emotional sphere.
Capricorn
The cards associated with Capricorn are the Devil, in the Major Arcana, and the Page of Pentacles, in the Minor Arcana. Extremely strong-willed and determined to achieve their professional and personal goals, Capricorn shares with these two cards that powerful, yet at times dangerous, energy that guides them.
Acquarium
The Stars is the Major Arcana associated with Aquarius, and the Page of Swords is the Minor Arcana card closely connected to this zodiac sign. Those born under this sign's propensity for emotion and dreams, as well as a feeling of being drawn toward all the beautiful things in life, are characteristics we find in both cards of the Tarot deck.
Fish
The Moon is the Major Arcana directly connected to Pisces, while the Page of Cups is the Minor Arcana, revealing a close connection to this sign. Symbolically, the Moon represents a light emanating from the unconscious that can illuminate a person's path. Pisces is naturally inclined toward introspection and spirituality, characteristics closely linked to these two cards.
