Astrology: The Astrological Houses VII, VIII and IX
Share
We continue our investigation on the Astrological Houses analyzing in depth the sections that go, continuing the presentation in the opposite direction to the astral motion, from the Descending House until arriving at the last House before the Midheaven.
There are 3 Astrological Houses very important ones that need to be discussed in depth and which represent, if we want to follow the astral motion for a moment, the West, the side of the Sky from which the maximum height above the horizon ends at Sunset.
House VII, “Descendant” (Angular)
This Astrological House is very important and is also called the “Antihoroscope”, since it is in opposition to the Horoscope (House I), and corresponds to the zodiac sign of Libra.
Here you will find information on: marriage, trials, arguments, partners, enemies, contracts, partnerships, and the sale and purchase of real estate.
Following Cardano's indications, given the position of this House in the First House, information about the individual's death can be deduced from this segment of the astrology. This follows the simple logic that if the First House contains information about life, the Seventh House should contain information about death.
From a social perspective, this astrological house speaks to us of wars, assassinations, thefts, alliances, treaties, enemies, and foreign affairs. The kidneys and navel are the body parts associated with this section of the sky.
If Saturn is in this House during the day, it is especially rejoicing if it is placed in a favorable sign: this will lead to a long and comfortable life for the subject.
However, it should be noted that Saturn, when in hostile signs at night, increases the severity of illness. The other malefic, Mars, in this house causes much harm and signals a tendency toward illness.
Its presence in this section of Heaven could also indicate a lot of effort in earnings, a short life and, in some cases, it could even suggest a violent death.
As for the benefic planets, it's worth noting that Jupiter indicates riches in old age and a very happy marriage. Venus, on the other hand, signals a happy old age and a peaceful death.
Mercury in the Descending House suggests intelligent people with a knack for culture and the sciences. If Mercury is in aspect with malefic planets, it could indicate psychological illnesses.
If the Sun is present in the VII House, one will have a very happy and rich life, obviously if it does not come into aspect with other malefic stars.
The presence of the Moon in the Seventh House suggests a tendency towards emigration and, if it is found in Water signs, with the Sun above the horizon, suggests navigation or trade.
House VIII (Successor)
The “Inactive” House, as it is called, is linked to the zodiac sign of Scorpio and provides information about the native's death, his work, the pain caused by losses, deadly poisons, worries, inheritances.
From a social perspective, it symbolizes morality and suicide. The body parts associated with this astrological house are the penis, testicles, bladder, and uterus.
All planets, benefic and malefic, entering this house bring advantages resulting from deaths. The presence of the Sun suggests the father's premature death or the decline of his father's wealth.
A possible Waning Moon, if not supported by Jupiter and Venus, foretells poverty, economic difficulties, and difficulty managing passions.
The malefic planets, Saturn and Mars, in this House weaken the native's living conditions, the decline of activities, losses and problems that are difficult to overcome.
The presence of Venus in the 8th House heralds difficulties in containing one's impulses and therefore also leads to difficulties in married life.
The presence of Mercury produces calm, introverted, and self-absorbed individuals. If in aspect with malefic planets, it predicts forgers or thieves. If Mercury is bathed in the rays of the Sun or in aspect with Saturn, it will indicate imprudent and somewhat foolish individuals.
House IX (Falling)
The Ninth House is also called "That which belongs to the Gods" and is governed by the zodiac sign of Sagittarius. Its contents speak of religion, faith, wisdom, philosophy, spiritual elevation, occultism, divination, dreams, and the arts.
From a social perspective, we encounter the clergy, the judiciary, science, and the judiciary. The anus, thighs, and buttocks are the body parts associated with this house.
This section of the sky can be said to belong to the Sun, since only this star is significantly rejoicing in this specific astrological house. Indeed, when the diurnal luminary, or Saturn, or Jupiter, or Mercury, are present in this house, without any ill effects, they suggest benefits from the Gods and/or rulers.
The above-mentioned stars when found in the IX House designate philosophers, mystics, people with a deep sense of religious worship and rich natural gifts.
Clairvoyants, astrologers, magicians, dream interpreters, and initiates of all kinds usually have the Sun in this House with the assistance of Mercury.
We report below a quote from Julius Firmicus Maternus, a great Roman astrologer of the 4th century, regarding the Ninth Astrological House.
"Placed in the ninth place of the horoscope, Mars is favorable to life and fame. And if Jupiter is in the horoscope at the same time, happy men are born, who easily achieve everything. If Mars is in the ninth place at night and Jupiter is in the horoscope, it brings the greatest powers in administration, the right of life and death, and those born thus are the leaders of an army.
Nevertheless, in this position, it also brings all the hardships of wandering. If, in the ninth place, it is in the house of Mercury or Venus, it makes wise and celebrated orators. But if it is in one of its own houses, or of Jupiter, or in its own exaltation, and Jupiter is not in the horoscope, it makes men who do not fear the gods, who do not shrink from false oaths.
They will be terrible to every demon and evil spirits will flee their presence, so that they will free men who suffer from them, not by the power of their words, but by their presence alone.
And however violent the demon that agitates the body and spirit of the sufferers, be it aerial, terrestrial or infernal, it will flee at the simple command of such men, who inspire in him a terror mixed with a certain respect.
These are those whom the people call exorcists. Such, therefore, will be the man who has Mars in the ninth place, as we have said, capable by the power of his order alone of freeing anyone suffering from any kind of evil demons."
